How to create and complete my resume or CV?

Note your profile is a part of your resume or CV, so completing your profile is very important. But also you need to create and complete your resume or CV.

Building your resume or CV is a continuous process, you can start with something simple like adding your education and your skills, don’t worry if you don’t have experience, portfolio or awards, you could maintain your CV in years.

A resume is generally used when you want to summarize your experiences and skills in recent years.

Steps

Cover letter

Usually, a cover letter is a one-page document that you send with your resume when applying for a job. It is meant to: Introduce yourself to the hiring manager. Argue why you’d be a good fit for the job. Fill in places your resume cannot describe.

Education

List your highest level of education first, then work your way back to high school. If you’ve earned a bachelor’s degree or higher, do not include your high school information.

Experience

List the companies you worked for, dates of employment, the positions you held, and a bulleted list of responsibilities and achievements. Internships, summer jobs, and temporary jobs, in addition to permanent positions, can all be included in this part of your resume.

You do not have to include every job that you have held, especially if you have several years of experience or have worked in unrelated fields. Entry-level employees, who do not have a lot of on-the-job experience, should include every job possible while emphasizing the skills that match the job listing.

How much experience to list?

Typically, a resume will have information about your most recent 10 to 15 years of experience. Beyond that timeframe, you do not need to include details unless the positions are relevant to your current career.

In some industries, including experience that dates back more than 10 or 15 years can actually hurt candidates. For example, in tech, including jobs that focused on older, outdated technologies might make a candidate look stuck in the past – even if they’ve kept their skills current.

Portfolio

A portfolio usually represents a portable showcase of your talents. It may contain artworks, writing samples, photos etc.

Skills

  • Decision Making.
  • Time Management.

  • Conflict Resolution.

Etc…

You need to add the percentage next to each one, that will display the skills nicely as a chart bar as showing the the following example.
